As part of proactive measures to ensure adequate security of lives and properties on campus, the Kwara State University Students Smart City will synchronize its unique building architecture with state of the art digital security systems.
According to the Chairman Implementation Committee on KWASU Students Smart City, Prof. Kajogbola Ajao, security of lives and assets of the University is critical to the continued unbroken academic calendar for which KWASU is well known.
Prof. Ajao made these statements at a presentation of security proposals for the Students Smart City by prospective security system providers on February 15, 2021.
Prof. Ajao further underscored the need for a robust security system when he emphasised that on completion, the Smart City will make KWASU a “university community that is truly a university community”.
“And if you aggregate over twenty thousand students in a place, you have to provide not just physical security but digital security as well” he said.
The Director of Physical Planning Unit, Architect Salihu Suleiman while highlighting the aesthetic uniqueness of the proposed city, said KWASU is willing to work with reputable security system providers in order to come up. With “realistic cost analysis”.
Arch. Suleiman further stressed that the university was looking forward to a “customised security system which is cost effective and security effective”.
A representative of Advance Hi-Tech Systems Ltd., Brig. Gen. B.I Agbab (Rtd.) presenting his company’s security proposal said artificial intelligence can be embedded in the physical structures of the city to create a security platform that can stand the test of time.
