The Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, has urged newly promoted professors of the varsity to gear themselves up for the new tasks ahead.
He gave the charge at a first- of- its kind reception, held in honour of the new professors, on Wednesday 11th August, 2021, at the Council Chamber, KWASU Business School, Ilorin.

who congratulated the honourees on their promotions, alluded the feat to dint of hard work and their brilliant scholarly contributions.
The Vice Chancellor, therefore, urged them not to rest on their oars, but rather be in the forefront of teaching, research and community service, as well as providing mentorship for younger academics and students.
Speaking on the essence of the colourful event, Professor Akanbi said it was organised to celebrate the honourees on their lofty scholastic achievements, and to encourage others to toe the line of academic distinction.
The Legal luminary expressed immense joy at producing professors for the first time in his lifetime, adding that the promotion process followed stringent criteria making the newly promoted senior academic staff worthy of their new status.
He commended the Deans of Faculties that produced the new professors for the support given to the honourees to reach the peak of their professional careers, just as he lauded their spouses for providing the enabling environment for them to accomplish the feat.
The University’s helmsman reminded the honourees that their professoriate is not just about publications but being well-rounded leader in all ramifications.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Omololu Fapojuwo and the Dean of Postgraduate School, Prof. Hamzah Abdulraheem, applauded the Vice Chancellor for providing the requisite mentorship and breeding ground for academic excellence.
Similarly, the Acting Registrar, Mallam Shuaib Mohammed who lauded the Vice Chancellor for the initiative, urged the honourees to bring to bear their wealth of knowledge and experience, towards moving KWASU to higher pedestal.
Present at the grandeur ceremony were spouses of the honourees, management staff and Deans of Faculties of the University.
Highlight of the event was the presentation and reading of citation of the honourees by Deans of Faculties of Humanity, Management & Social Science, and Pure & Applied Sciences, Prof. Abdulkabir Solihu and Prof. Emmanuel Ajani respectively.
The honourees are Professor Sunday Awe of Biochemistry Department; Professor Mubaraq Sanni, Accounting and Finance Department and Professor Abdus-Sami’i Imam Arikewuyo, Department of Religions, History and Heritage Studies.
Others are Prof. Binta Sulyman and Prof. Oluremi Mabel Awogbade both of the Creative Art and Tourism Department.
