The Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology commenced a need assessment exercise of personnel and infrastructural facilities of Kwara State University, Malete. The exercise, which had in attendance, academic staff of the University and officers of the Kwara State Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology is slated to hold for two weeks, beginning from 16th July, 2020.It is aimed at carrying out a holistic assessment of both academic and non-academic staff, and infrastructural facilities, in the institution.
The Director Personnel, Finance and Supply, of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Alhaji Suleiman Oba Wankasi said in a bid to move the institution forward, the state government, decided to conduct a need assessment of the institution to gather information on the needs required to move the institution to greater heights.
He stated that KWASU is one of the institutions that is of paramount importance to the state government, hence the state government is committed to providing the required support to aid the growth and development of the institution.
In his words, he said, “We have a government that is responsive, and wants to know the exact things that are required by tertiary institutions in the state to function optimally. The government is determined to make administration and management of tertiary institutions in Kwara state a role model for all tertiary institutions in the country and in order to achieve this, the Governor of Kwara State, Malam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq felt the need to keep abreast of the needs and requirements of these institutions, so they are better positioned for efficient performance.
He noted that the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology is tasked with the responsibility of conducting a need assessment of the institution, hoping that after such process, the government will be well equipped with information concerning the needs and requirements of the institution.
He expressed delight at the level of cooperation enjoyed by his team, stating that he is hopeful of having a hitch free exercise.
