Members of Governing Council and Principal officers of Kwara State University (KWASU), on Monday, February 1st, 2021 embarked on a two-day facility inspection tour of the institution’s satellite campuses sited at Osi and Ilesha Baruba.
The Council Chairman, Professor Kpotun Baba Mohammed, who led the team, observed the level of development at the Osi Campus and vowed that the Governing Council under his Chairmanship would meet with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to discuss the issue of proper funding of the institution and possible completion of the these campuses for a full take off of academic activities
He also pointed out that the Osi campus, which is fourty-eight percent completion rate is a critical public project with the potential of increasing the revenue base of the area and that of KWASU.
Earlier at the Palace of Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu AbdulKareem Adasofegbe, Professor Kpotun charged the traditional ruler to use his position before Kwara State Government to facilitate the completion of the project.
The scholar further stated that part of the council’s roles is to relate with the government on issues concerning the institution.
While thanking the Council Members for honouring him with a visit, the king, however, expressed the community’s eagerness to see academic activities take off on the campus soon.
On Tuesday, after a short courtesy call at the palace of the Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, the chairman proceeded to the facility where he conducted the final leg of the inspection.
While feeding questions from the University’s reporters, Professor Kpotun expressed satisfaction with the siting of the campus in Ilesha Baruba, noting that having a fully operational KWASU in the area is central to the expansion and development of Kwara North Kwara State University.
He thereby, gave assurance that the Council under his leadership, aside its supervisory role, will lobby the State Government to facilitate timely completion of the projects.
