The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Dame Gladys Olajumoke Simplice, paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN at the KWASU MBA School Ilorin on 4th September, 2020 to seek collaboration with KWASU on capacity Building with the institution.
Dame Gladys expressed appreciation for the reception given her team by KWASU management. She stated that the purpose of the visit is to propose collaboration with KWASU on capacity building and also to acknowledge and express their profound gratitude for the kind gesture of the VC for providing office accommodation for the institute.
“Your gracious approval of offices for CTA’s use in the interim is a great feat. Therefore, we have come to say thank you. We do not take this magnanimity for granted in anyway.” She said.
On capacity building, the President stated that, proposed collaboration with KWASU is envisaged to commence the post graduate programs of the Academy.
She noted further that, Certification courses in Taxation, Professional Diploma in Taxation, Professional Advanced Diploma in Taxation programs of the Academy will commence immediately from the place provided by KWASU.
The President revealed that the institute has proposed programmes for Kwara State Local Government Council and LGA revenue officers stressing that, facilitators for the programmes will be drawn from among KWASU staff with background in taxation and CTA approved lecturers.
She said there are other areas of possible collaboration between KWASU and the institute and she intends to explore all for the collective benefit of both institutions.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor assured the institute of KWASU’s collaboration, stating that KWASU will be willing to partner the institute.
Professor Akanbi said collaborating with CITN fits into his mission and vision for the institution. He stressed that it is his desire to produce “A Total Student”. A student that will possess all the requirements to survive in the outside world.
He noted that it will be an added advantage for students to able to obtain certificates in an entirely different but relevant field while in school, as this will prepare them better for the dynamics of this modern world.
